Philippine Surfing Academy Interview

By Interviewer at 01/09/09 14:56

Name of your website?

Philippine Surfing Academy

Your name?

Darryl Buckley

Your Location (city, etc)

Manila

Our site is all about giving quality surf education and providing active surf lessons by internationally accredited surf coaches in a wave pool in Manila and day trips to surf beaches near the city.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Our website is designed to attract customers to our business and let people see for their own eyes that it is possible to have the experience of surfing right here in Manila.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is my first website and it was launched in September 2008. it's about giving quality surf lessons here in the Philippines.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

It is the name of our company.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

We are the only surf school that offers surf lessons in a wave pool. Our instructors are all accredited to international standards. They are also qualified life guards and hold first-aid certificates. No other surf school in the country can offer the same qualifications.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To make a living by offering quality surf lessons to our clientèle.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

As all businesses, when you're starting you don't make a lot of money. But we are confident that our investment and efforts will pay off.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I'm quite happy with the way my site is right now.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Advertising, replacing and sourcing of equipment, and transportation.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Trying to start a new business in a foreign country.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Media and hard-copy selling.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I haven't given it enough time to meet my expectations.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

the site's been running for three months and my intention is for it to become popular and for my business to succeed.

What makes your business different from other related businesses?

We are the first surf-school in the country and also one of the firsts in the world to offer lessons in a wave pool. Our business also not only gives lessons for beginners but we have progressive coaching to get our clients to competition standards which no other school in the country does and only a few in the world do.

What is your website address?

Philippine Surfing Academy
