Soccer Ireland Interview

By Interviewer at 01/02/09 08:17

Name of your website?

Soccer Ireland

Your name?

John Hogan

Your Location (city, etc)

Dublin

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Information about soccer clubs in Ireland including pitch locations and maps, club official contact details, and general club informnation

What inspired you to launch your own website?

There was no site like it that provided this type of information in a comprehensive and standard format

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

December 2008 / www.soccer-ireland.com

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I was looking for an intuitive name that was easy to remember

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

It pulls together all relevant football information and presents it in a coherent and standard manner.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Provide a service to the wider soccer community and to earn enough revenue to cover my costs.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Don't know yet

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Add more content about each club and improve the aesthetics of the site

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes but I would need some help.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None so far.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Getting the basic information about clubs that do not have a web site.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Only just starting out so I can't say yet.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It is much harder than I expected. Research takes a huige amount of time.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

Less than a month and for the next ten years at least.

What is your website address?

Soccer Ireland
