Top Golf Courses and Golf Clubs : Where2Golf Guide Interview

By Interviewer at 10/22/07 12:51

Name of your website?

Top Golf Courses and Golf Clubs : Where2Golf Guide

Your name?

Suzanne Butler

Your Location (city, etc)

Overijse - St Hubertusdreef 40

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Where2Golf is a unque guide providing information on the top golf courses and golf clubs in Asia, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, USA. It is a golf holiday guide with golf course reviews and ratings.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

As travelling golfers ourselves, we could not find a good guide telling us which are the good and the not good golf courses in a country or region.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

In 2002 and it was Where2Golf.com

How did you decide on a name for your website?

The name travelling golfers are always looking where they can go and have a round of golf so +++> where2golf?

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

WAs a golfer, you know that there's no feeling like the anticipation of playing a new course. If you're an avid player who likes to pack up your golf clubs and play a few rounds while vacationing, you've most likely tried several new courses. Unfortunately, excitement can quickly turn to disappointment when the course doesn't meet your expectations. While there are many companies that claim to specialize in arranging golf tours, they often don't have the expertise needed to adequately assess the quality of the golf courses they promote. Whether you're looking for short golf breaks or you want to take an extended vacation to play the world's best golf courses, you need a guide that provides you with information on the top destinations for golf holidays and the best golf courses at those destinations.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Keep it for income

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

We have not yet reached a mature level and content is still growing. Costs are higher than income at the moment.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Re design

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Technical costs

What has been your biggest challenge?

Being top ranked on search engines

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Not to that level yet.. no advertising budget available. Promotion is done via natural search engine listings

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Time consuming

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

Running since 51/2 years. Will continue for many more years..

Replace this with a question of your own

We get first page positions on Google and other search engines for golf holidays. We have more than 1200 golf courses but do not see enough results of searches for the specifique golf courses we cover. Could anyone advice what we have to do to improve this?

What is your website address?
