The Pro Bowl used to be just the all-star game for the National Football League (NFL). In 1970 the American Football League (AFC) merged and the all-star game became the AFC-NFC Pro Bowl. What they do is match the players from the National Football League (NFC) and the American Football League (AFC) and play against each other.
Most sports have their all-star game during the halfway point in their season. With the Pro Bowl it is the last played game of the NFL season. The first Pro Bow game was held on the January 15, 1939 at the Los Angeles's Wrigley Field. Playing there were the all-stars of the 1939 season.
The Pro Bowl is now held in Honolulu, Hawaii at the Aloha Stadium. The Pro Bowl has been held there for the past 30 seasons from 1980 to 2009. 30 years straight. Next year's Pro Bowl is going to held in Florida. It will be heldat the Dlphin Stadium on January 31st. Next year will be the first ever that the Pro Bowl will be played before the Super Bowl.
